Location in Cairngorms National Park

Benula (PH21 1LA) is at an altitiude of 270m and is ideally situated for walks directly from the house or cross-country skiing in suitable winter conditions. (see MAP)  There are fields behind with a footpath giving access to woodland paths. There is a choice of circular walks that can easily be done in a short day such as the top of Carn an Fhreiceadain (878m), or around Loch Gynack. There are a variety of short walks within the village or to the historic ruin of Ruthven Barracks.

The 18 hole golf course is only a 10 minute walk away.

The outlook to the rear is of Creag Bheag and  Creag Mhor. To the front there are views over the River Spey and the Insh Marshes towards the Cairngorms. The ridge of Carn Ban Mor can be seen in winter and spring when the large tree in the garden has shed its needles. A red squirrel is a regular visitor to this magnificent tree. The garden is laid out simply to lawn with a natural wooded area and guests have exclusive use of it.
